NOW is the perfect time to book your team in!

Mental health first aid is the help provided to a person developing a mental health problem, experiencing an existing mental health problem, or in a mental health crisis. The first aid is given until the appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves. At present, you can choose from Community MHFA, Workplace MHFA or Tertiary MHFA courses.

All have the same core foundational content with the practical activities, scenarios and context tailored to better meet the needs of the respective environments.

What is a Mental Health First Aid course?

The online Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course is based on the international MHFA Guidelines. Curriculum content is evidence-based, with the input of mental health professionals, researchers and consumer advocates.

As of 2020, over 850,000 Australians and almost 4 million people worldwide have attended a MHFA course.

The success of this training both in Australia and worldwide is attributed to MHFA Australia's commitment to evaluating its training programs using rigorous, scientific studies, since the program began in 2000. MHFA Australia studies have shown improved mental health in those who attend the training, decreased stigmatising attitudes and increased  amount and type of support provided to others.

Course Content

The Community, Workplace and Tertiary versions of the MHFA course teaches adults how to provide initial support to adults who are developing any of the following mental health problems, experiencing a worsening of an existing mental health problem or mental health crises:
